Vera
Chase
Vera Chase (* Prague, Czech Republic) has been writing since her
childhood, both in Czech and English (poetry as well as prose). Apart
from appearing in various magazines, almanacs and newspapers both
home and abroad, presenting her work at numerous readings and winning
various prizes, she has so far published seven books:
- a collection of poems and poetic prose pieces Tricet smrt celych
jahoda (Thirty Death Point Strawberry, Jitro publishing, Prague,
2010),
- a collection of short stories Maso a pomerance (Meat and Oranges,
Mladá fronta publishing house, Prague, 2008),
- a collection of poems and prose poems Štáva (Juice,
Labyrint publishing house, Prague, 2001),
- a collection of short stories Hypnoskop (Hypnoscope, Prostor
publishing house, Prague, 1999),
- a bilingual collection of poems Eyeberries/Bobule (published
through Sanskriti Pratishthan thanks to UNESCO, New Delhi, 1999),
- a fiction novel Vášen pro broskve (Passion for Peaches,
Kniní klub publishing house, Prague, 1998) , the winner
of the 1997 Book Award, and
- a bilingual collection of poems and short stories Bodypainting/Telokresba
(Protis publishing house, Prague, 1997).
