Marais
Anthony Marais is an American novelist, essayist and
screenwriter. Born in Hollywood in 1966, he co-founded
the LA pop group “The Squids” before moving
to Paris in the late eighties. He studied anthropology
at Berkeley and archaeology at Simon Fraser University
in Canada during which time he traveled extensively
throughout Polynesia and Micronesia.
Since 1995, he has lived in Germany where he is an active part
of literary and cinematic circles, as well as in Poland and the Czech
Republic.
His writing focuses on art, culture and delusions. This is his
second appearance at the Alchemy Reading Series, and this time around,
combining music, image and prose, he will read from a selection of
short stories about Prague.
