Is an English Professor at SUNY-Plattsburgh, upstate New York
and translator of Portuguese to English. He has published 22 books
of translations, mostly Portuguese poetry, including Portugal’s
best known and most popular living poet, Eugenio de Andrade.
Levitin has won two National Endowment for the Arts Translation
Fellowships, as well as receiving a Fullbright and Rockefeller
Foundation residency. He has done numerous readings and is an engaging
speaker on the art of translation and the beauty of Portuguese
poetry.
